In October 2013 our wine buying team, headed by Tim McLaughlin-Green of Sommelier’s Choice flew to Verona to select our new Pinot Grigio from the vineyard of Antonio Fattori.

Located in the hills around the village of small Italian village of Terrossa, it is from here that the Fattori family has been producing award winning wines for three generations. We’d like to share with you a little taste of Tim’s visit to Italy:

“Antonio’s vineyards are situated approximately twenty minutes from Verona heading east towards Venice. The vineyards are between 150 & 400 metres above sea level and the soil is volcanic, which makes it ideal for producing mineral & fresh Pinot Grigio. After much thought, wine was selected - the unusual Pinot Grigio Ramato.

Ramato in the local dialect translates as the colour copper though in English, we are more inclined to call these wines blush or rose. Ramato is an interesting wine in that the flavour is enhanced with an aftertaste which adds wonderful ripe notes. We do believe we have selected a stunning wine that will complement our fine FishWorks food perfectly.

After selecting the wine, we had time to visit Lake Garda at the wonderful time of year to visit. The sky was amazing, filled with an array of colours which reflected onto the Lake. The restaurants were also worthy of note - we even visited a local fish restaurant.”

FishWorks are now delighted to share the stunning Pinot Grigio Ramato, Fattori wine with you available now in Swallow Street, Richmond and Marylebone!
